Annual Review |
Welcome to the third Telford Business Partnership (TBP) Annual Review. The last year has been a very busy one for TBP and has seen us continue to grow and extend the number and range of activities and events available to our members.
We were particularly fortunate to welcome the Regional Agent of the Bank of England as a guest speaker at our October breakfast meeting to provide us with an insiders’ view into the credit crunch at a critical point in its development.
Our workshop programme has continued to flourish and has provided a number of members with the opportunity to share their expertise. The first TBP Golf Day in May was also a great success, mainly due to the sterling work put into its organisation by the late Peter Wyatt.
I have continued to represent TBP and the local business and professional services sector in the region on your behalf and aim to ensure that your voice is heard by colleagues across the West Midlands.
We are really pleased that we have successfully completed our contract with Advantage West Midlands (AWM). The three year funding and support provided by AWM in our initial development has now ceased and the Board have therefore been working closely with Transforming Telford to ensure the long term sustainability of the organisation.
We are very fortunate in being able to call on the continuing support of Transforming Telford, without which we would be unable to offer the range and quality of events which TBP has become renowned for. There have been a number of changes in the organisation and management of TBP during the year. As a result of the enthusiasm and professionalism she exhibited in her role as TBP manager, Nicki Openshaw attracted the attention of one of our members who recruited her to manage the administration their growing business. Our best wishes go to Nicki in her new role.
The Board has also seen a number of changes and I would like to express my appreciation to the retiring members for their contributions to TBP; Kim Gilmour, Jill Law, Peter Llewellyn, David Rees and Darren Wood. We have been fortunate in securing the services of excellent replacements in Paul Brennan, Geoff Parkes and Sharon Wyatt.
2009 promises to be another challenging year and I am sure that with the continuing enthusiasm and support of the Board and Transforming Telford, we can look forward to further progress in the development of Telford Business Partnership as the pre-eminent voice of Business and Professional Services in Telford and Shropshire.
