Kathryn Holloway flew the flag for her fellow ‘young professionals’ in Shropshire yesterday (Wednesday 2 September) when she met Gordon Brown at Birmingham City Football Club.
Kathryn Holloway (24), owner of promotional marketing company Promofix Ltd and Chair of Telford Young Professionals was introduced to the prime minister at the Backing Young Britain exhibition and jobs fair, where he announced 85,000 jobs and training opportunities for the UK’s unemployed youngsters.
Kathryn joined 120 young business leaders from across the UK in a question and answer session with the prime minister where he faced scrutiny on how the government would give more support to the young unemployed.
Kathryn also met representatives from well known companies, including Morrisons, Asda and Virgin Media, who are offering 18 to 24-year-olds training with the possibility of permanent employment at the end of the training.
The networking group, Telford Young Professionals, is run by economic development company, Transforming Telford and encourages the retention of young talent in Telford and supports the development and networking of young professionals.
Kathryn became the Managing Director of her own business, Promofix Ltd, which operates from Enterprise HQ in Coalport and Shrewsbury. As an MD at 24, Kathryn understands the challenges faced by young people in business.
“It is very important that we nurture young talent and create a dynamic environment for young professionals to meet, share ideas and grow their professional business contacts. Government support and access to funding is vital if we are to increase entrepreneurial behaviour amongst young people.”
As chair of Telford Young Professionals, Kathryn meets with members at regular networking events, designed to create business opportunities, develop business relationships and to provide an environment for young professionals to build a future in Telford and Shropshire.
